So, we held BB’s 1st birthday party at our home last Saturday.

We didn’t want to spend too much money, hence I decided to DIY a dessert table!

For food, we ordered from Neo Garden as per usual, which was a wise choice because they gave us 15% + additional 5% discount because we also ordered from them for BB’s 1st month. ๐Ÿ˜€ And we love their curry chicken!

Ok. So, I decided on a farm animals theme because really, our whole family’s zodiac are farm animals. BB is a sheep, I’m an ox and Mr Toh’s a pig. Literally. *Just kidding! Hahaha~

Googled for a farm theme birthday party and there were so many ideas! But what caught my eye was the ideas from Fisher Price. They had a collaboration with another site called Hostess with the Mostess and they had a post called Fun on the Farm.

I took the idea for a ‘carrot patch’ from there as well as the labels for the dessert table. Mr Toh really liked the idea of the carrot patch too.

Carrot Patch (source)

Youโ€™ll Need:

– Fresh Strawberries (I bought New Zealand ones from NTUC, $4.95 for a box)
– 1 Orange Melting Chocolate (Couldn’t find this, so I used white chocolate and orange dye)
– Piping Bag or Plastic Sandwich Bag (omitted this cause I didn’t do the carrot ‘lines’)
– 1 Bag Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (I used Oreo, about 6 or 7 packs)
– Parchment Paper and Cookie Sheet or Tray (I used waxed paper I bought from Daiso)

1. Wash and dry the strawberries, being careful to leave the stems on.

2. Cover a tray or baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

3. Melt the orange melting chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, according to package directions. (I used a bain-marie to melt the chocolate, then dyed it orange.)

4. Take a strawberry by the leaves and gently dip into the melted candy. I like to swirl the strawberry at the end to get rid of any excess. Lay the covered berry flat onto the parchment paper to dry.

I put mine in the fridge to keep immediately as I skipped the below steps for the ‘carrot lines’

5. After all of the strawberries are dipped and on the tray, place the tray in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

6. Remove the cooled strawberry tray from the refrigerator, and scoop the remaining melted orange candy into your piping bag. (You may need to re-heat the orange melting chocolate first before scooping into the bag.) If using a sandwich bag for piping, cut the very tip off of one corner after it has been filled.

7. Once strawberries are hardened, create โ€œcarrot linesโ€ by drizzling the melted candy back and forth over each one. Move relatively fast so that your lines are straight. Donโ€™t worry about making the lines look perfect or having the same number of lines on each strawberry – the differences will make your โ€œcarrot patchโ€ look more natural! Pop the drizzled berries back into the refrigerator to harden. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

8. For the carrot patch display, crush up the chocolate sandwich cookies (filling included) until finely ground in a food processor. Cover your tray with the chocolate sandwich cookie โ€œdirt,โ€ then place the strawberries on top! (I used more Oreos as I wanted to sort of half bury the ‘carrots’ in them instead of just placing on top.)

This was a challenge. Mainly because I originally bought white chocolate compound chips, but they were very thick when melted, I couldn’t dip my strawberries in them! The uncle at Phoon Huat recommended this when I asked about dipping strawberries, he says they will harden at room temp, which is true but it was too thick to dip.

So I googled some more and went back to buy white chocolate couverture chips instead. They melted in a more liquid form and was much easier to dip. But only thing is they don’t hold up well in room temp and will start to melt. But I didn’t mind.

Started doing them only on Sat morning as they won’t keep well or look as nice if done the night before. But it was pretty successful even though it doesn’t look as good as hers. I got good reviews from our guests~~

I found their idea for the haystacks too troublesome though so through googling, I found another idea. Rice Krispies treats! And got the recipe from cookiesandcups.com.

Perfect Rice Krispie Treat Recipe aka Haystacks

makes 16 squares
Author: Cookies & Cups
5 Tbsp butter
8 cups, plus 2 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Krispie Cereal
ยฝ tsp salt

– Line a 9×9 pan with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray, set aside.
– In a large post over low heat melt butter. Once butter in melted add in 8 cups mini marshmallows, stirring constantly.
– Once the marshmallows are just melted remove from heat and stir in your cereal and salt until just coated in marshmallow mixture. Now stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows.
– Pour mixture into prepared pan and press in evenly.
– Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. Best if served same day.

So. Easy. And so good!! Bought the butter and marshmallows from Phoon Huat and the rice krispies from Redmart. Couldn’t find any in NTUC or Cold Storage.

 photo IMG_20161201_215931.jpg

They were so good that Mr Toh asked if I can make them more often. Cannot lah!! Lol. So sweet. Once in a while is still ok. His friends and colleagues took some home too cause I made quite a lot. ๐Ÿ˜€

Last DIY item for the dessert table was popcorn! I originally wanted to buy ready made ones but Mr Toh asked why don’t want do it myself as it’s very simple. Hmmm, I’ve never made popcorn before so I didn’t know. But I googled for a recipe and it does seem easy. So I bought the kernels from Cold Storage and tried making it the night before the party.

Recipe from bakedbree.com.

Perfect Stovetop Popcorn aka sheep fluff

ยผ cup coconut oil (or canola) – I used canola oil
โ…” cup popcorn kernels
3 Tablespoons butter, melted
2 Tablespoons honey
1ยฝ teaspoons sea salt – didn’t have any sea salt so I used regular salt.

– Add the coconut oil and 3 popcorn kernels to a large pot. (I use my Dutch oven.)
– Cover and cook over medium-high heat until all 3 kernels pop.
– Take the three kernels out of the pot.
– Add the rest of the popcorn kernels.
– Cover and take the pot off of the heat.
– Wait 30 seconds.
– Put the pot back on the heat. Cook, shaking the pot occasionally until the popping slows down.
– After about 2 minutes, and the popping has slowed down, take the lid off of the pot. This lets the steam out and keeps the popcorn crisp.
– While the popcorn is popping, melt the butter and add the honey.
– Pour over the popcorn and sprinkle with salt. Toss until completely coated. You could also do this in a large paper bag.

The sauce was so yummy! Though I added a bit too much salt so the popcorn was a tad salty. =( But really very easy and cheap too!

Cupcakes from One Third Pastries.
 photo OI000241.jpg

Sadly, they weren’t very nice to eat, though they were very nice to look at. They were the most expensive thing on this table. Lol.

Cupcake stand was a free gift from Waterway Point! I only remembered about it on Sat and managed to dig it out to use. Hahaha.

The dessert table, looks ok right?? Simple but full of love.
Table rented from Neo Garden and came with the skirting.
Berries, cherries and grapes from NTUC. ๐Ÿ˜€
 photo OI000240.jpg

Super cute balloons from Huiyi, who bought them from a shop on the 2nd level of Waterway Point.

Mr Toh let him taste some cream and his expression like that. Lol. Think because he’s never tasted it before.
 photo OI000273.jpg

Pressies!! Still have some gold accessories and red packets not pictured. Really really thankful. BB is so blessed.
 photo OI000276.jpg

BB lasted till almost 10pm after his last nap at 3pm. T_T Tried to make him nap again but he was having none of it. So he went to bed at 10pm and KO-ed within 5 minutes while drinking his milk. Oh dear.

It was a really tiring day for me too because BB woke at 5am plus which means I woke at the same time. Didn’t manage to nap because was too busy with the desserts and deco.

But it’s OK!! Most important thing was everything went smoothly and BB was really happy. So many people to play with him and carry him. ^^

Thank you all so very much for coming and for the gifts and well wishes!

Oh yes, and Mom wasn’t around cause she was in Vietnam with my aunt. And she bought a Pikachu soft toy for BB. ๐Ÿ™‚

BB is 8 months old this month.

BB really loves to clap his hands. He will clap his hand at any opportunity, even when he’s about to sleep. ๐Ÿ‘

He can point at things now, especially love to poke his toys or anything we are holding. He will also wave his pointing finger as if saying “Orh hor..” Lol, so funny.

He can now wave Hi and Bye to people. Will always wave bye to mom and helper when he’s going to bed, then wave Hi in the morning when I bring him out and he sees our helper. ๐Ÿ‘‹

He can sit up by himself when crawling now~ at first can only kinda sit on one side, half sit half lying down, super cute. But slowly, he can sit properly. ๐Ÿ‘

He can pull himself up to kneeling position in his cot. He can even stand although only for a very short while. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Sometimes he loves to shout when he’s sitting in his rocker, for no reason. T_T He has a very loud voice, inherited from his Daddy. Haha.

1st August
Went to Hello Kitty cafe with Mr Toh and his colleagues to celebrate him getting good news! Yay! Congrats my Mr Toh and good job!

Food was quite OK, very normal but edible.

4th August
BB the nap fighter. Didn’t nap again after his last nap at 1pm. Haiyo this notty boy.
Came home and read 2 books to him then made milk and brought him to the room to sleep. He waved goodbye when saying goodnight to the helper. Awwww.. my baby is growing up. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

5th August

Brought BB to Bridges Montessori in the morning to check it out. The location very ulu… though they had a full Montessori system, somehow we didn’t like it very much. Had lunch then went back home.

Daddy shopping, we wefie~

We watched League of Gods with mom later in the evening. What a crappy show!

6th August
Our helper’s birthday! Brought her to Orchard for dinner~ we tried the Indo restaurant at Paragon. Food was quite good. BB didn’t want to nap in the carrier at all today even with the hood up. ๐Ÿ˜–
Got home and we cut the cake~ then fasterly put BB to bed.

7th August
Brought BB out to my cousin’s house, his 2nd daughter’s full month. BB very clingy as usual. Lol.

Pokemon-ing while babywearing and making BB sleep. Babywearing FTW!

9th August

Brought BB out in the evening to Dad’s house~ he was such a good boy today. I fed him his porridge there while Ah Yi held him on her lap. He also played with them for a while before I put him to bed. But he woke up after a while crying, I managed to pat him back to sleep. He slept till Mr Toh came and woke up crying again. Faster carried him out cause Audrey was also sleeping inside.

Sleepy grumpy baby

But no use, Audrey woke up too. So we cut the cake, cake for Singapore’s birthday. Lol.
While wiping down BB, he kept reaching out for the lotion bottle. Gave it to him so he wouldn’t struggle so much and I realised he seems to think that was his milk. ๐Ÿ˜… So I faster made his milk, fed him and he KO-ed. Poor BB, must have been really hungry.

12th August
BB seemed sad today when I was leaving for work. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Sorry baobei, Mama need to work. Mama love you~
Went to suntec to collect the toy I pre-ordered for BB and the item was so big I had to cab home to put first. Then took the train back to work.

Pokemon hunting at night with his brothers @ 401.

So crowded!

13th August
Wanted to assemble BB’s new toy but upon opening the box, I realised the condition of the item was so bad! Got scratches, got opened bag and whole thing just looks used. So disappointed with this fair organizer SuperMom. Never buying anything from them ever again. Took pictures and FB msged them plus emailed them too. At first they were only willing to exchange item but I refused. Who knows if I will get another 2nd hand item. So they agreed to collect back the item and refund me the $. Never ask them to refund my cab fare very good liao.

Lol @ his expression.

Met up with Char and Jia+Kevin for dinner at Serangoon Gardens, Steam Box.

Dessert, the durian mousse at Dessert Bowl is awesome~

Kevin sent me home after that, thank you!
Changed and went out to 401 with Mr Toh after that. Pokรฉmon time~ ๐Ÿ˜„

14th August
Brought BB to my uncle’s place in Woodlands. We took the bus! BB slept the whole journey. BB is such a good boy. Mama love you~
He was clingy at first and wary of my aunts as he seldom sees them. But towards the end, he was ok already and even laughed when they played with him. Mama so proud of you baobei~ baobei ๅพˆๆฃ’! ๐Ÿ‘ Cabbed home with mum after that.

15th August
Took half day leave in the afternoon to go collect my IC. Wanted to eat our fave bak chor mee but it was closed on that day.
So I met Mr Toh at Bugis instead. Had our late lunch and went Pokรฉmon hunting~

16th August
His favourite sleeping position.

18th August
Met Mr Toh at Vivocity after work, that place so many Pokemons and Pokestops with lures! Lol. We had dinner at Morganfield’s, the bacon wrapped pork balls were so yummy!

Their pork chop not bad too but kinda salty after a while.

While having dinner, we saw groups of people running towards the Sentosa Boardwalk so we checked our map and turns out there was a Lapras at Sentosa. But too far…. =(
Two Caucasian men sitting beside our table were amazed by the scene, lol.

19th August
BB today morning.

Met Mr Toh at Vivo after work again! This time we were headed for Sentosa. But that place sucks, very big and very hot. =(
We walked back to Vivo and decided to have a snack at Brewerks.

Yummy calamari & pork belly satay!

My silly husband

The boardwalk was really quite lovely.

21st August
“You better give me my food now, when I am asking nicely, I tell you.”

23rd August
BB playing with my sweets.

24th August
His super cute pajamas.

26th August
BB today morning. New expression, Mama melting liao!

Concert day! Ended work earlier and met Mr Toh at Suntec for dinner before our concert~
Terry Lin One Take 2016.
We felt so young there cause the majority of the audience were our parents’ age. :X
His concert was amazing! One of the best I’ve been to and his voice is just so good that it gave us goosebumps!
We then went to MBS for Pokรฉmon~

27th August
Mr Toh’s off day~ I woke in the morning, played a bit with BB then went back to bed and slept till 3pm. Woke up with Mr Toh then we went out for lunch without BB cause the haze was too much.
Caught Train to Busan and it was such a good movie!
I then went to Eu Yan Sang to see a sinseh about my right thumb. Starting to hurt again.
We then went to Hougang Ave 10 after that, saw Charlene and her hubby near there when we were looking for a Vaporeon! Then saw Wensheng and Huimin too at Ave 10. Lol. Sg too small liao.

28th August
Met Huiyi at Somerset to go do our hair together~ Had lunch at Supply & Demand. Turns out Huiyi and her bf were also playing Pokemon! Lots to talk about. Haha.

29th August
Someone can sit up by himself! Though not very stable but good effort baobei!
Putting him to bed is quite a chore now. If he’s not tired, he will climb all over the bed. I then put him in his cot, but he went to pull himself up by holding on to the railings. He then tried to stand and succeeded for a split second. Then he fell on his back and my heart almost stopped. But then he squealed and laughed so happily I couldn’t help but join in. ๐Ÿ˜„ But pls don’t make this a habit baobei~
Carried him up after that and realised why so smelly. Turns out he pooped! No wonder didn’t want to sleep. Were you trying to tell Mama you pooped baobei? Sorry Mama didn’t pay attention. Lol. ๐Ÿ˜†

31st August
Mr Toh’s off~ met him at Chinatown for dumplings. Wanted to go for the Abra nest at Pearl’s Hill Park but realised we can’t access it because of some construction going on….so we went back to Waterway Point to buy fruits for praying. Headed home to put the stuff then headed out again for supper~ Mr Toh said he want to watch movie… Told him I accompany you for supper not enough, you still want movie, ๅคช่ฟ‡ๅˆ†ไบ†! ๐Ÿ˜„

Whoa. On the train to work. BB just had a huge vertical movement on my left side, that my boob felt like it was kicked and his head was pushing on my groin. ๐Ÿ˜… That is if his position remains as per the last visit. We’ll know for sure today~ Have been telling him we’ll be seeing him later today. Hee. ๐Ÿ˜† Can’t wait to see his progress.
My belly’s button starting to pop out a little bit, a bit sore. Scary…haha.
Legs are still kinda swollen though slightly better after my pedicure treatment.

14 Oct
Saw the ICA letter addressed to me when I was leaving home in the morning.
Messaged Mr Toh later in the afternoon to help me burn that darn letter. ๐Ÿ˜‚
BB hiccuping in the evening while I was watching tv, so funny. Tummy kept having this movement like a tick.

15 Oct
Amazon parcel arrived~ Finally~ Shipping was very fast, reached me in less than 2 days. Items were OK, all received in good condition.
Had my prenatal massage after work, time was changed to 6:30pm as my regular masseuse wasn’t feeling well so I had to rush over after work.
The other masseuse was much gentler hence I fell asleep during the massage. Shiok~~~
It was 8pm when I was done. Went for dinner at Gyoza King and had their pork gyoza set with brinjal and mayo prawns as sides and vegetable soup. So yummy~

Costed me $18.70.

The staff and the guests at the table beside me were very nice and considerate too when they saw I was pregnant.
Went to look for Mr Toh after that and we went home together before he went to meet his friends.

16 Oct
Pre bday celebration with Mr Toh today~! Left work earlier at 4pm today and met him at Vivo. Went to Starbucks to chill and share a pear tart as he haven’t had anything to eat yet.

Yummy pear tart.

Grumpy Mr Toh

Walked around for a while before heading to Promenade. Since it was still early for our 7pm reservation, we headed to Marina Square, that place is kinda dead man. No more cinema too.

Saw Cathay Photo and we decided to go check out cameras. We were kinda assured by their shop reputation as they have been around for very long.
The sales attending to us was professional enough. We bought the Olympus EM 10 ๐Ÿ“ท in the end. $900 and we had the limited edition version with orange body and strap. It comes with an extra battery and a 16gb SD card. The salesman threw in an additional black strap when Mr Toh tried bargaining, lol. The black strap is for Mr Toh who doesn’t like the orange strap and said he wouldn’t use it.

We didn’t realise the time was already past 7pm so we went for our dinner first before heading back to pay and collect the camera later.

We were having our dinner at Colony @ Ritz Carlton~ Saw that they were newly opened, replacing Greenhouse and the place looks good.
We were given a comfy booth seat. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Selfie. xD

Mr Toh’s sashimi. Looks good enough but he complained that though the sashimi was fresh, the cut of the meat wasn’t good, it wasn’t like those he had at Ichiban. The texture of the sashimi here was tough and not enjoyable at all.

Fried rice – pretty good.
Chili crab bun – not much chili crab taste.
Sambal cod fish – tastes good but a tad overcooked. But unavoidable at buffets.
Broccoli – very normal.
Dumpling – normal.

Lobster – fresh but overcooked, hence a bit too chewy. Again, unavoidable.
Har gow – not bad~
Asparagus – no taste..

Their food was pretty OK though nothing really stood out with the exception of the winter melon chicken soup at the roast duck station. The soup was very flavourful and the winter melon was cooked really well. Mr Toh loved it. ๐Ÿ˜†

They had a juice section too where you could choose from a few juices or concoct your own. I had their freshly squeezed orange juice while Mr Toh chose to have his own flavours. But unfortunately the rock melon he added wasn’t very fresh so there was a weird taste. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Roast meat platter with chicken rice and the awesome melon soup with the weird tasting juice. Roast meat platter and chicken nothing to shout about, chicken rice was also normal.

Lobster ball laksa. Lobster balls very meh but the laksa itself was quite good.

Pretty dessert section!

I loved their dessert section, there was a chef preparing fresh crepes, we had a nutella banana one each. There were a few varieties of small glasses of desserts too and cakes. Dessert spread was not bad. Kinda reminded me of my first time at Melt.

When the server for our table saw we were having desserts, she asked if we wanted any coffee or tea. Mr Toh had the English breakfast tea while she recommended the chamomile tea for preggie me saying it aids in sleep. Felt like telling her I don’t need help in sleeping, I need help in reducing my trips to the bathroom. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it was nice of her.
Our tea was served in a pot, each.
My fruity camomile was served with a small pot of honey too. My tea was very nice, I loved it.

Ronnefeldt Fruity Camomile tea.

Mr Toh then tried his tea with my honey and came to the conclusion that it was the honey that was nice. But my tea was nice enough without the honey too.
Though the variety wasn’t a lot, the food quality was OK, not bad. The service was excellent.

We headed to Vivo for a movie~ Caught the new Thai movie, Heart Attack.
Omg. Please do not watch it. Movie was boring as hell! I kept falling asleep. The seat at GV was really uncomfortable for me too. I had such a miserable time. ๐Ÿ˜ซ

While in the cab on the way home, I asked Mr Toh where’s my cake, he said later go home give me. I thought he didn’t have time to buy it so I was kinda disappointed. I then replied him, “Mooncake ah?” since we still have leftovers. Little did I know…

I was preparing to go bathe when I saw him sneaking in from around the corner with a cake in one hand and trying to light the candle with the other hand. Gave me such a shock! He also got a shock as he didn’t expect me to be standing at the door. LOL. I got my birthday cake and my birthday song! Yay!! Hahahaha.

Very simple looking cake but so moist and tastes good!

Asked him how come got cake cause I couldn’t figure out when he had time to buy it.
It turns out that he got a shock that afternoon when I told him I was knocking off early. So he fasterly prepared to go out and cabbed over to Jalan Kayu to buy the cake before going home, running up to put the cake in the fridge and then rushing to Vivocity to meet me. Oops, made him so busy.

Awww. But I’m so touched. Hehe. So happy. Thank you my darling Mr Toh. *muacks*

Played around with our new camera, haven’t figured out how to upload photos using the wifi though. Haha.

Gorgeous finishing. A tad heavy but we love the fast shutter.

17 Oct
Red packet from Mom. =)

Woke early today to get ready to gai gai~ I was meeting Christina and Gary for brunch~
After Mr Toh left for work, I started getting ready.
They came over to fetch me, yay~ Super nice of them!

Went for dim sum brunch at Tunglok Orchard Central. Food was pretty good, especially their calamari with salted egg yolk. Yums! Thanks to Christina for the treat~
After brunch, we went for ice cream dessert at Cold Stone, my treat this time. Had fun just chatting and taking polaroids. ๐Ÿ˜€

My gorgeous BFF and me. So much love for this woman!

They were about to send me home when I suddenly felt like going for a mani & pedi. Hehe, fickle minded preggie here. Called up Snail The Nail Spa at Wheelock and they had an available slot right now so Gary dropped me off there. So thankful for awesome friends and their spouses. ๐Ÿ˜˜

Selfieeeee~ Pretty view~

Did my mani first. Mani station.

The lady, Xerra, attending to me was very friendly and being a mother of 2, she also shared some advice for preggie me. ๐Ÿ˜
After my mani was done, we moved over to the pedi station where I decided to do their scrub for both arms and legs. Xerra did the scrub for my arms while a younger lady, Stephy did my toes this time. Such a relief to finally see my toenails clipped and clean. I could do it at home but it’s a chore and I end up not doing a good job. Stephy gave me a leg massage while doing the scrub, very comfy, I almost fell asleep. Haha.
The only thing I didn’t like was the smell of the rice bran oil they applied after that. ๐Ÿ˜ถ

Pretty clean nails after the mani~ Been super long since the last mani.

Wanted to go somewhere else to chill after that but being Sat, it was really crowded everywhere so I went home~

Took a nap with the intention to wake up later to find Mr Toh after his work but when he msged me at 9:31pm, I was at home cause I didn’t wake up in time when my alarm rang. Set it for 8pm but I only woke at 8:40pm. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿท

Mr Toh said his friends wanna meet us for supper so I fasterly went to prepare and cabbed down to Kovan. We went to Xin Wang with Daniel while waiting for Gerald. Daniel was suggesting all kinds of hot drinks to me but I rejected all his suggestions. He also sian. Lol.

Our spread. Their fried rice was pretty good with pearl rice ็็ ็ฑณ. Fried prawns were yummy too.

Finished my honey lemon and they were still planning to chit chat so I ordered another drink but I really felt like drinking ้ธณ้ธฏ so I asked for permission from Mr Toh and he said ok, but drink a bit only, I bargained for half a cup and he said ok~~ Yay~~~ ๐Ÿ˜˜

When the drink came in their mug โ˜•, I happily told Mr Toh that I ่ตšๅˆฐ! Cause their mug was quite big and it was filled to the brim! ๐Ÿ˜‚ So yummy~ So satisfied. Hehehe.
Gerald sent us home after that, he even turned into our carpark when we usually just get off at the bus stop. Special privilege for this preggie, haha. Seriously, really very thankful for awesome friends!

18 Oct
It was quite hazy today so I didn’t go anywhere. Stayed home the whole day and waited for Mr Toh to come home~ We watched The Expendables 2 on TV together before I went to bed. ๐Ÿ“บ BB Toh moving so much tonight and Mr Toh kept talking to him. So much love for this 2 men in my life.
Heehee, really very cute. I really love this feeling! No wonder everyone tells me they miss it.

Told Mr Toh the other day that I have a new man in my life but he said no NS means not man yet. Seriously. Lol. So I amended it to say new male lor. Haha.

1st Oct
Hazy day. Wearing the Air+ mask. Kinda small.

Mr Toh’s off day again. We didn’t know what to have for dinner, wanted to try the truffle wanton mee but it wasn’t open for dinner so Mr Toh suggested Soon Kee braised duck. Yay! Been super long since we’ve had it, ever since they moved from Longhouse. Took the train to Farrer Park and walked over to Jalan Besar Stadium but we had a hard time finding the foodcouet because we approached it from the other side and didn’t see it until we asked for directions. Blur! Lol. Food’s still as good as ever. Yum!!

$21 for 3 pax portions and 4 bowls of rice. Hehe. So full after that!

2nd Oct
Massage day! Slightly better than the previous time though feet was still kinda swollen. Ordered compression stockings and sleeves from Amazon, hope they’ll help~
Went to find Mr Toh again and we had Sin Chie Toke Huan curry rice for supper. Yummy~ tastes good when we have it once in a while instead of almost everyday.

3rd Oct
Stayed home the whole day and did housework plus nap. Shiok.
Spent some time trying to film BB’s movement in the afternoon but wasn’t successful. ๐Ÿ˜” He’d stop whenever I start recording, so ๅŽ‰ๅฎณ meh?! Camera shy like his dad? ๐Ÿ˜„

4th Oct
Mr Toh’s off day~~ Went to Hougang Mall for Nene Chicken and Starbucks. Yummms.

Super hot day.

Headed to Dhoby Ghaut and caught Everest, movie was free because we had vouchers! Wanted to watch The Martian at first but no seats. Mr Toh called it Martin, I was like, who’s Martin? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Great movie, very exciting and sad. I realised that BB always moves a lot during the start of the movie and until around the middle of the show. A tad distracting but I love it when he moves!

Itacho for dinner after that.

Bought a Nexcare postpartum support belt from Mothrrcare for $64.90, hope it’s good.
Had Starbucks again and chilled for a while before heading home. Somehow, I wasn’t in a very good mood today, felt kinda moody / sian, don’t know why, must be the hormones. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
Watched The Lincoln Lawyer on Ch 5 with Mr Toh, nice movie. Slept at 1am plus. ๐Ÿ˜จ Like a zombie the next day.

5th Oct
BB very active the whole day with a lull around 5 or 6pm plus. Can keep feeling him wriggle. Super love it~~ Hehe. Ankles still swollen, bo bian. *sigh*
Went to Kovan and had dinner alone before heading home. Had western at the coffeeshop along Hougang St 21, cheap and good western food!

But so sad that I ordered the wrong item, their pork chop not nice.

Mr Toh met his friend for supper/tea so I went to sleep early.

9th Oct
Took half day’s leave today~ Had Foong Kee roasted meats with Mr Toh.

Their char siew is major love! But the roast meat was too salty and wantons weren’t nice too. Weather was really hot! ๐Ÿ˜ฐ We then walked over to Bellaluna for our couple massage but Mr Toh didn’t like their massage. He much prefers Thai style or acupressure style massages.

Walked over to 100AM for Starbucks~~ made use of Mr Toh’s 1-for-1 and got a caramel hot chocolate for myself but the guy charged us for signature hot chocolate which was cheaper. So yay? ่ตšๅˆฐ! Hehe.

Cabbed over to Expo for Mummy’s Market baby fair! Bought so many things~~
– Moby Wrap Organic for $90. Mr Toh dislikes the other baby carriers so we got this.
– Goon diapers for $19.90 per pack, we got 4 packs Newborn and 1 pack Small and they will provide free delivery on 22 Oct.
Wanted to get Merries but their size S and NB were already sold out by the time we got there. So fast, 1st day some more. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
– Nursing bras, 3 for $49 from Autumn for work and 5 more from another brand for home wear.
– Another set of Dr Brown’s milk bottles, we kiasu scared not enough to use.
Toes kept cramping suddenly! 2nd time this has happened and always after I’ve been walking a lot. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Now I know that my tummy really seems quite big leh! We happened to see another lady who said she’s due in December but her tummy was quite small as compared to mine. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
But my tummy’s very sharp cause everyone who’s guessed my BB’s gender got it right at the 1st try, including Crystelle, the massage lady and the lady at the joss stick shop. Lol.

Time for dinner so we were thinking of what to eat when I thought of Changi Village ipoh hor fun! Still as yummy as ever. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Cabbed home after that.

10th Oct
Finished my housework and I couldn’t stand my frizzy hair any longer so I made an appointment for 5pm with Focus Hairdressing for a straightening treatment, their Mucota Dyna treatment.
Bought Popeyes there as I haven’t ate lunch yet. :X The stylist was nice enough to ask me to eat first, hehe. Though later he told me he was also eating at the same time. Haha.

@ the salon.

After. =D Pretty pleased with the results, he also trimmed off quite a lot of my hair.

He was very nice and kept reminding me to be careful whenever I got up to go for a rinse.
He also gave me advice as he’s a father of one, was really humorous too. I really enjoyed chatting with him.
Super pleased with the results, it costs me $280 and I bought a label m dry shampoo to prepare for my confinement. He wanted to give me samples to try first but they were out of stock. I saw good reviews online hence I bought it, costs $35.
Headed to Kovan to look for Mr Toh. As it was still early, I went to have dinner first. Many stalls in the hawker were closed already so I settled for Western Cowboy Grill and had fish & chips. Not nice. Fish was so dry. Pfft.
Mr Toh was hungry after his work so he had Alishan porridge while I accompanied him before we headed home.

11 Oct
Mr Toh’s 2nd Sun off this month! ๐Ÿ˜
Had a cupcake for breakfast. After Mr Toh woke up, we went to have our lunch and then headed to ๅง‘ๅง‘’s shop to ask her for her opinion on the domestic workers.
Was feeling a little giddy and nauseous suddenly…think the weather was too hot. Felt better after having some water.
So…we have a rough criteria set up and ๅง‘ไธˆ sent us over to the agency at Hougang Green. Shortlisted 2 choices, now waiting for them to interview them with our questions before we decide.
We headed home to rest and watch some TV before heading out for dinner. Mr Toh had a sudden craving for Gyu Kaku so off we went! Wee!
But when we reached, we realised the menu had changed, a lot more beef choices and other side dishes plus a more affordable pricing. But no more Iberico pork. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
The meat’s quality was also poorer. It’s still quite good but not the same as before.
We asked 1 of the long time staff and apparently they have a new manager from Japan as the previous one had retired and he has a different idea for the restaurant. He lowered the prices to make it ๅคงไผ—ๅŒ–, they even have a card to collect chops now!
But sadly, we won’t be returning because what we loved about Gyu Kaku was their exceptional meat quality and now that’s gone.
Our favorite Jap BBQ, no more. ๐Ÿ˜ข
We’ll have to start looking for a new place.
Went to Starbucks after that and shared a choc chip frappe before heading home as I was tired already.

13 Oct
Had a 3 hr lunch break today with boss and colleagues. Lunch at Sushi Tei and drinks at The Chop House after that. Shiok~

Curry ramen with tempura. Average.

More food.

Snake eating in progress.

Oreo milk shake at The Chop House. ๐Ÿ˜›

But I started feeling quite down on my way home. Don’t know why. Was watching TV when I suddenly felt like crying and the tears came. Seriously!
Decided to just shower and sleep. Don’t even feel hungry because lunch was too filling.

Been trying to stay active and do more exercises. Slacked too much for the past 2 weeks hehe, now trying to climb more stairs. Ankle still swollen, ankle bone, ไฝ ๅœจๅ“ช้‡Œ?! ๐Ÿ˜ต

BB moving a lot everyday, I love it~ I talk to him everyday, every opportunity I get, even when I go to the toilet at work. If people hear me, they might think I’m crazy. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Week 30 now. Legs get tired easily, I get tired easily. Also been feeling really hot these past few days, partly also due to the stupid weather.

Birthday coming soon! This year, it’s finally on a Saturday but sadly, Mr Toh has to work that weekend. T_T It’s ok lah, will be going for brunch with Christina~~ She messaged me that day, “Someone’s big day coming soon!”
I was like ?.? for a while before I realised she’s talking about my birthday. Hahaha.

Saw the letter from ICA on our table yesterday when I was leaving for work. Asked Mr Toh to burn it! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just kidding, time to change my IC picture!

My Amazon parcel ETA SIN today, hope I can receive it tomorrow!

21st Sept
Met Mr Toh after my work at Clarke Quay for Santouka! I tried their shoyu ramen but decided I still prefer miso. Pork gyozas were still yummy.

We then headed to Nex to buy some more stuffs for BB. Bought his bathing supplies, Gaia brand from Watsons. It’s so pricey… ๐Ÿ˜จ But heard that it’s good. It better be! Bought a receiving blanket from Spring. Super love their line of baby clothing. The material is soooo soft!

22nd Sept
Mr Toh’s 3rd straight off day. Shiok sia, like a long weekend for him but only once in how many years, haha.
BB was active a lot today too, always during the morning and afternoon time.

23rd Sept
Pre-celebrated Hongyi’s birthday at Dad’s house! Yay! The naughty boy is 5 years old already! How time flies!
Went to Vivo Toys R Us to buy him a Lego toy set before heading over.

Wanted to cab over but the taxi queue at Vivo is horrible so I ended up taking the MRT to Hougang and cabbing over to Dad’s place.
Had Pizza Hut for dinner since our usual, Rite Pizza wasn’t delivering to our area that day. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Eric also passed me this package before I left, apparently a gift from our vendor.

Came in a cooler bag.

Pretty colored box.

2 bowls of birds’ nest inside. I thought there was only 1 bowl so was pleasantly surprised. Lol. Also came with a airtight lid indicating the date of preparation and a ceramic spoon. Very very cool idea.

Eric said he’s passing it to me as he doesn’t eat birds’ nest, then he mentioned it’s for BB. Awww…so thankful for such a nice boss! The quantity is quite a lot but it wasn’t very clean…could see quite a lot of debris. o.O

24 Sept
Haze very high today again. Woke up late and got ready to go out to attend my boss’s housewarming party. Changed to bus at Dhoby Ghaut and was messaging with my colleagues when I realised….I took the bus in the wrong direction. ๐Ÿ˜‘
Fasterly got down at Suntec and crossed over. Lucky the next bus came soon enough. Hais. ๆœ‰ๅคŸ blur!
Super crowded at the party as usual, passed him the angbao and had some food. Didn’t have chance to see much of his house, very small but nicely renovated.
Left at about 5pm plus and I headed back to Dhoby Ghaut with the intention of having dinner but didn’t know what to eat. *sigh* Suddenly thought of cutting my hair so I headed to Clarke Quay to see if there were any slots at Cleo as I wanted to give them a try.
I was lucky and there was a slot and I was attended to by Kasahara-san, the boss of Cleo, I didn’t know who he was till I was leaving and he passed me his namecard! ๐Ÿ˜จ ๆœ‰็œผไธ่ฏ† orh ee orh. Lol.
He was very nice, very gentle especially knowing I was pregnant. His English wasn’t very good but we could understand each other, probably also because I didn’t have many requirements.

Required selfie after cut, wash and blow~

Had rosti at Swissbake before heading home. Never again, food sucked. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
Bleurgh food.

25 Sept
Super high haze today morning. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Dessert break at work, thanks to Eric.
Durian sago from Ah Chew’s Dessert. YUM. No more durian after this, scared of getting high sugar.

No appetite for dinner…don’t know what to buy. ๐Ÿ˜–
Had zi char in the end.

26 Sept
Woke early and headed to Nex with Mr Toh, I was there to get mooncakes and he was there to run some errands for the shop before he started work.
Mr Toh has fell victim to Starbucks marketing. ๐Ÿ˜‚ He wanted to start collecting the Starbucks card so he bought the Singapore Starbucks card, the Starbucks planner (which came with a gorgeous Starbucks card) and an ice mocha.
I headed home after that while he went to work.
Went to collect the mooncakes then met him after his work and we headed to Grandpa and ๅง‘ๅง‘’s house to pass them the mooncakes.

Peony Jade Heavenly 4 mooncakes & Goodwood Park Mao Shan Wang mooncakes~

At Grandpa’s house, Mr Toh playing with baby Audrey.

27 Sept
Mr Toh was off today~ I woke early to pray and we prepared to go out. Headed to Nex to collect 1 box out of 3 remaining boxes of mooncakes. We had an unsatisfactory lunch at Ya Kun, the chicken curry was bad, tasteless and chicken meat was tough. Mr Toh’s tea also tasted like coffee. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ My mee rebus was not bad.

We had collected the mooncakes and I thought we were gonna be leaving for his cousin’s house when Mr Toh changed direction to go up the escalator. I got caught by surprise so I asked where he was going. He smiled cheekily at me ๐Ÿ˜ and said, “Starbucks.” Lol! His expression was so funny!

We headed to his cousin’s house after that but she wasn’t home yet so we went to Thomson Plaza to walk walk first. They seemed to have renovated or something, there’s a few different stores too, been super long since we’ve come here.

She fetched us from Thomson Plaza and we headed to her house to choose what we wanted to get from her. ไธ€่พน choose ไธ€่พน chat until 6pm plus and they dropped us off at Nex.

We had dinner at Long John Silver, collected the last of the mooncakes and we cabbed home first to drop off the stuff then headed to Dad’s house to pass him the mooncakes.
Stayed and chatted until 10pm plus and we headed to Seletar Mall to catch Attack of the Titans II.
Less gory than the 1st movie but also a bit more boring, I fell asleep at one part. :X

28 Sept
Had my prenatal massage after work. It was raining so heavily + the haze, I had a miserable time getting to the salon. T.T

This was at 6:30pm. So dark!

My massage this time was so so though, have another one this Friday, hope it will be better!
Met Mr Toh at Kovan and I felt like having zi char. Tried the one that Mr Toh had with his colleagues before and it was good~ A tad salty but yummy!

29 Sept
Met Mr Toh after my work at Hougang and we went to the maid agency at Hougang Green. Got a few biodatas of the domestic workers they recomended and we brought it home to consider.
Had dinner at Chef’s Hat, so-so food, very average, not worth the price paid.

Mr Toh’s carbonara, can tell it’s not nice.

My pork chop. So so lor.

30 Sept
Was relaxing on the sofa and watching TV when BB was kicking and moving a lot. I took out my phone wanting to record his movements down when he stopped moving. Seriously. So camera shy like the Daddy! So I talked to him and asked him nicely to let me record this time, can? And he really did! Sooo cute lah!! It felt like he was turning around or something. Lol, really don’t know what he’s doing sometimes. Hahaha. I don’t know how to post a video here though…so they shall remain on my phone. xD

Gave me a shock when I received a call from Mr Toh earlier today, he was supposed to be sleeping. Turns out he got woken up by a nightmare, the poor dear. Hope I can wake him up on time later for work.

Met him yesterday at Clarke Quay as I was craving for ramen but when we passed by E!ght BBQ, I couldn’t resist so we gave it a try. Hmmmm, I liked their stew, Mr Toh hated it. We both liked the miso, garlic and red pepper paste pork though but thought the price wasn’t really worth it as it was quite pricey. $58 for 4 big, thick slices of flavoured pork, 1 stew and some side dishes. We also had their grilled squid…nothing fantastic but we liked the sauce that came with it.
ๆ—ฉ็Ÿฅ้“ we should have stick to Santouka. Oh well. Never eat never know.

Headed to Nex after that as we wanted to catch Night at the Museum but the 9:40pm show was sold out by the time we got there. Grrr…we didn’t think of booking as we forgot it was the school holidays and their next timing was only at 11:40pm which was way too late.

Saw that there was an earlier timing of 10:40pm at Seletar Mall so we headed there~~

Bought tickets and went to Starbucks to chill after that as we have their giftcard. Yay for discounted drinks! Love their chocolate drinks~

Larry spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever.

We felt that it was a sad movie. No more magic… But it was still an enjoyable show.

Also caught The Hobbit last week at Seletar Mall with Mr Toh. We never watched any of the earlier movies so we were kinda lost…lol.

After the Dragon leaves the Lonely Mountain, the people of Lake-town see a threat coming. Orcs, dwarves, elves and people prepare for war. Bilbo sees Thorin going mad and tries to help. Meanwhile, Gandalf is rescued from the Necromancer’s prison and his rescuers realize who the Necromancer is.

Battle scenes were amazing and I loved the happy ending. =X Can’t wait to start reading the books, wonder when will I be able to finish reading them.

Was Jiaxi’s birthday on Friday 26/12, we met Zhi Wei’s in laws at AMK for dinner and a small celebration. This naughty girl knew what she wanted for her presents so we knew what to get for her. It’s good this way too, at least we won’t buy stuff she won’t like. Since I was free on Xmas day, I headed to Nex and Toa Payoh Kiddy Palace to get the Robocar Poli playsets she wanted.

Happy girl upon seeing her very cute Lego cake. The toys are real, awesome cake with free toys to boot.

Happy Birthday Jiaxi! May you grow up healthy and happily, be a good girl!

Xmas Eve gathering at Dad’s place. Turkey was yum!

Mr Toh with baby Audrey, the little pineapple. Sooo cute~~

Baby feeling cranky as she wasn’t able to sleep with so many people in the house. =X

Loot from gift exchange with colleagues and a surprise gift from Nelly. Love the dress to bits!

Was WS’s wedding last last Sat 20/12. I was part of the bridesmaid entourage, doing a favour for my future sis-in-law. It was my first time ever, things went smoothly and we had fun~~ Mr Toh was going to send me to her place in Sengkang so he shun bian had breakfast at the McDonald’s nearby while I watched and he then headed to Dad’s place. Thanks laogong~ *muacks*

Sneaked a moment to wefie with Mr Toh in the morning after we fetched the bride!

Lovely decor by the other bridesmaid because I was late, all because of Mr Toh! =X

Their gift from his colleague.

Grumpy baby Audrey, I think she was hungry.

My handsome Mr Toh and me after the dinner~ And a photobomber Hongyi.

Lai, selfie when I got home, love my wavy, half ass curly hair. =X

Was a tiring dinner. We were seated with his eldest uncle and…….I was stressed out trying to make conversation with his family. T_T And doesn’t help that Mr Toh weren’t around a lot as he had to help out. T_T

Have been feeling under the weather for the past week…was doing housework last Sunday and ironing Mr Toh’s shirts at night when he got home and he voluntarily helped me hang the rest of the laundry knowing that I wasn’t feeling well. Aww…and I didn’t even need to ask him. So touched, knowing my lazy hubby cared for me enough to do housework. Hahaha. =D

16/12 was Mr Toh’s mummy’s death anni so we had to pray at home. I was on half day leave. Woke up early to start cooking the soup. Mr Toh woke up really early to help too. We went to Kovan to buy the roasted meats and headed home to cook the rest of the dishes and start praying. We were running a bit late and Mr Toh had to leave for work before we could burn the joss papers. So I was entrusted with the task. Thankfully, everything went smoothly. *happy*

Mr Toh was off. I had some stuff to carry home so he came to fetch me. =) We headed to Vivo to catch Exodus and do some shopping for Mr Toh. Managed to find a nice blazer for him. Went for fruit tarts after buying movie tickets.

Epic adventure Exodus: Gods and Kings is the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

Quite liked the movie and I loved Christian Bale in it!

Mr Toh felt like having Korean BBQ, managed to find 1 that was still open at that hour after some googling. Boss BarBQ at Clarke Quay. But they were not the self bbq type of joint that I was used to, the food is served cooked. While waiting to be shown in, Mr Toh casually remarked how awesome it’d be if they had a live band. After we were seated and about to order, their live band members came strolling onto the stage. So zhun!! The band, The Lost Box, was good, great lead singer. But ummmmmmm, their food really sucks. Poor Mr Toh was disappointed.

October was good to me.

I met the babes on 16 for my birthday dinner at Bliss House Central on Thurs 16/10. Had so much fun with them~~ We then adjourned to a cafe that Jia recommended for desserts. We chose 2 cakes to share, Jia had the lemon meringue cake and I noticed at first that she kept urging me to choose another cake that I wanted to try. I didn’t think too much of it. But later when the waitress served it with a lit candle and they burst into the Happy Birthday song then I realised what she was doing. Super sweet of her. I am so blessed to have them in my life!

Was on leave on Friday 17/10 and Mr Toh was off! Went to Arbite for brunch but did not realised they did not have brunch menu on weekdays so I didn’t have my eggs benedict. T_T
Accompanied Mr Toh to his driving lesson and after that, we went to visit Hongyi who was at the hospital due to an infection. The poor thing.
Went for dinner at Gyu Kaku later on!! *salivates*
Mr Toh brought me to Chocolate Mark at Wilkie Edge after that to try their chocolate drinks after doing some research online. Sadly, the drink he ordered wasn’t very nice, mine was much better but I was so full from our dinner that I couldn’t finish it.
We then headed to Nex after that to catch Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends.

Waiting for our movie to start~

 photo IMG_20141017_233825.jpg

Kenshin Himura goes up against pure evil Makoto Shishio who is attempting to overthrow the Meiji government. The fate of the country hangs in the balance as Kenshin Himura takes up the sword that he vowed to never draw again.

Not much comments about the movie, but Mr Toh thought it was OK.

We woke up the next morning bright and early as we were heading to Sentosa! Well, 12pm is considered very early for my Mr Toh. Hehe. We were gonna take the cable car!! Because I’ve never taken one before!!!

Tickets! Cable car also have theme? Didn’t know that.

 photo IMG_20141018_123333.jpg

Waiting for the lift~
 photo IMG_20141018_123350.jpg

We got a whole cabin to ourselves. I was terrified when we started moving. I don’t know why but I just thought it looked damn scary, this big box hanging on a thin rope only!!

Attempting to look calm for the photo. Mr Toh was laughing at me. Lol.
 photo IMG_20141018_123711.jpg

My love~

Adventure Cove 1st!
 photo IMG_20141018_153255.jpg

We went floating in the river first. It was a very long river. Longer than the one at Wild Wild Wet. And we rode the wave too. Fun! We didn’t queue for any rides at all, the queues were so long and we just weren’t interested. Place was so crowded on a weekend.

Look, I’m a diver! *oops* Picture fail, can you guess why?
Mr Toh asked why I had 4 hands. T_T
 photo IMG_20141018_153338.jpg

Kinda better shot, no extra hands peeking out.
 photo IMG_20141018_153355.jpg

We were hungry, so we had some snacks. Didn’t want to eat too full as we were going to have dinner with my family later on.

 photo IMG_20141018_155223.jpg

Churros!!! These weren’t very yummy though, the texture was too soft and the chocolate sauce was too sweet.
 photo IMG_20141018_155326.jpg

We had egg tarts too! I thought these were pretty ok, but Mr Toh thought otherwise. Tsk, this man, hard to please.
 photo IMG_20141018_161754.jpg

We still had time, so we decided to go for the SEA Aquarium! And there was a discount too thanks to our Cove tickets. USS tickets also applicable for the discount. Wee!
